Claim is, it is available at the eComStation web site. I can't
find any mention of it in any eCS news or latest release
sections and it doesn't appear in the download section.

If you know where it is at the eComStation web site will
you please post the url so we can verify the claim?

BTW, XR_C005 (FixPak 5) was "out" to PA subscribers
in early February, finally announced and made available
for download from IBM to PA subscribers on February 27th.
It was incorporated in a 'refresh' of Warp 4.52 in late
January.

But thanks for the news!

Those are some interesting claims, considering the IBMer who released
the FixPak did it on February 28th. Releases before that were
considered "beta," although I don't believe it changed after the
February 2nd release.

At the risk of seeming to pry, may I ask what is the cost for this? I let my
Software Choice subscription lapse. I got some gobbledy-gook from IBM about a
per-item charging scheme but I couldn't make heads or tails of it. As someone
who has actually purchased this new Fix Pak, perhaps you could enlighten us on
exactly what steps you went through to get Passport Advantage to give you the
Fix Pak & what you paid along the way.

I would greatly appreciate this information. Perhaps others would as well.

To obtain this fixpak you must either have a passport advantage maintenance
agreement or own eCS. If you have a vaild PA ageeement you are entitled to the
fixpak at no additional charge. If you have let your SoftwareChoice/PA lapse
then you will have to reinstate it. Once you have a vaild passport advantage
agreement you go to the passport advantage site, sign in, and download the
fixpack. If you are a new user you will have to activate your entitlements
first. There are 18 disk images plus several other files.

If you own eCS, you can go to the eCS site, sign in, and go to the drivers and
updates page. There is not a pointer to the fixpak yet, but if you search on
fixpak 5 you will find it. Serenity has repackaged the files into 8 zips for
easier downloading. There is no charge.

Unfortunately, my own experience isn't likely to be of much value to you.

I have automatic access to XR_C005, and other OS/2 FixPaks, as part of my
OS/2 annual software maintenance subscription through Passport Advantage.
Anyone can get such a subscription (in theory, anyway), but the ease of
doing so, and the cost, varies greatly depending on your geographic
location and your existing support contracts (or lack thereof) with IBM.

Since I work for a company which already has a Passport Advantage
membership at 'Level J' (preferred customer) pricing levels, I suspect I
paid a bit less for this than the average user probably would.

I joined PA just before the Express version came out. Registration was
free, and easy.

I paid the initial OS/2 maintenance fee, about $200 ISTR. Annual renewal
is about $75.

Oh, and I bought eCS!
