Bill,
Got tired of the locking up with my Brother HL-1440 on USB locking up
the boot, and went back to the old parallel port,thank goodness this
great printer has a port! I cannot notice a difference. BTW, my
Canon LiDE 20 is still on USB and it does not interfere with the boot
process. I assume that it is only "on" when Tame accesses it.

Pop off the USB cable to the USB scanner and the frequency of crashes
has gone down. Don't know what this means.
